rising above the weeds

wildsweetpea.jpg

during our recent troubles, things around the little old house got a bit unruly.  do weeds grow faster when you are not looking?  it sure seems so.   mark spent most of last weekend maneuvering a brush hog over our pasture and forest roads.   they were really a mess - so choked with nettles and blackberries that one could hardly walk.  still, when my daughter and i heard the engine start up we quickly grabbed shoes and clippers and tried to out-race the mower.  tangled among the weeds were hundreds of wild sweet peas, just come into bloom.   it felt wrong to strip the plants of every flower, but we gathered every one we could reach and brought in armloads to fill mason jars and vases.   all weekend long we enjoyed the sweetness of the flowers and the freshness of the cut grass.

things are quiet here....waiting for....i don't know.   no plans have been made, there are no clear directions, so this week i have been going on ahead with our life, trying to keep things normal until someone tells me differently.

how thankful i am for everyday things...

soccer games and grocery shopping,

hanging the laundry in the sun,

the birds in morning song,

a field of wildflowers rising above the weeds;

good, sweet things that give solid footholds as we follow His trail.

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.  Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy...   Phil.1:3-4

Tonia,

I am so grateful for a few days of "normal" for you...and rejoicing for the flowers among the weeds!

You remain in my prayers,

Jeanne

Hi Tonia :) What a lovely post - I am enjoying the picture in my mind of all of those pretty flowers in jars all over the place. My Granny Pearl would come in from her garden with armloads of flowers and place them in tea cups all over the kitchen. What a dear memory!

Over and over this week the Father has been reminding me about being thankful for the "everyday" things. Thanks for being a part of that today. Love to you, Q

You make me smile and encourage me in this walk of faith we are sharing with so many other brothers and sisters. Sometimes it is just enough to put one foot in front of the other and continue along the path He has chosen for this day. And He lovingly put all those beautiful flowers along the way for you Tonia. I didn't even know there was such a thing as wild sweet peas. How delightful!

Keeping you in prayer. Thanks for blessing me today Tonia.
